Latest thrifty finds (I got a D&G purse for $5.99!)
Is it just me or is this time of year stinkin’ awesome for thrift store shopping? I suspect that the penchant for people to purge, de-clutter and clean in the spring may have something to do with why thrift store shelves are stocked with seriously good loot right now. I can’t be sure.
At any rate, I recently picked up what I consider to be some real treasures at my local Goodwill store.
I got this Express dress for $1.99 (it was “red-tagged,” which meant it was 50 percent off regular price that day). The Dolce & Gabbana purse is brand new with tags. I bought it for $5.99! It has to be a knockoff, right?
I picked up some other brand new stuff for the kids, too.
The cute summer dress was $1.99. One of the dolls was $5; the other was $1.50 (both were red-tagged). The wooden train set was $2.99.
I don’t thrift store shop as often as I’d like but I do have a great time when I go. During Haven last year, I had the privilege of sitting in on a seminar from Mr. Goodwill Hunting himself. During that event, he offered 10 tips for thrift store shopping. Check out my blog post on that here.
Do you have any tips for shopping at thrift stores? What do you think is the best time to go and why?
What a score!! Yes, totally love thrifting, and I don’t think anyone would ever know that the majority of what we wear are thrifty finds. Great post!!

Thanks, Tanya.
Cute stuff! I’m never so lucky.
Love thrifting. Just today I found a sundress for $3.00 ($5.99 at 50% off) and a great lampshade for $1.99! My daughter bought her wedding dress at a thrift store for less than a hundred dollars. Thrift stores are also good for art materials, if you know what to look for.
It looks like you got some hot deals! I’m with you on the art supplies. I particularly like to buy cheap framed pieces, then use the frame and glass for something else. Thanks for stopping by.
Love thrift shopping! Recently scored a pair of Salvatore Ferrago shoes from Goodwill for $3.39! I have a tight budget, but I love fashion, so it is thrift and consignment for me! 🙂
Great finds! I love fashion as much as I love bargins, so I’m a thrift shopper, too.
Living in a college town, this is my favorite time of year to visit our local Goodwill! My favorite find is a big screen television that a student did not “feel like” taking home with him so we got it (it was one of the old-school kind that is huge and heavy) so now our ten year old son has the biggest television in the house! Great score for us! Great score for you on that D&G purse!
Billy, awesome score with the TV. It reminded me of my own college town dumpster-diving excursions, which I talk about in Chapter 3 of my free e-book: http://livingrichonless.com/?p=2533. The hubs and I got some great stuff after all the “rich” students went home. 😉
