Allume conference re-cap
Last week, I had the privilege of attending the Allume conference in Harrisburg, Pa. The event is geared specifically toward Christian women in social media. It was a wonderful time of refreshment, encouragement and motivation.
As much as I hate to admit it, I’m sure it was a refreshing experience for my husband and daughter as well, since they got a break from me for a few days. 🙂 A 9-months-pregnant lady is not always the most fun person to be around. Case in point: The other day I found myself glued to the couch for much of the afternoon, watching the Oprah Winfrey Network and bawling uncontrollably. (I guess there really is something to this whole pregnancy hormone thing.)
Anyway, the opening speaker at Allume this year was Veggie Tales creator Phil Vischer, who shared his inspirational story of the rise and fall of Big Idea Productions and how God became real to him during bankruptcy and the death of his dreams. To read the details of his story, click here.
During the conference, I was blessed to sit under the amazing teaching of successful bloggers like Darren Rowse, speaker, consultant and founder of several blogs and blog networks, including b5media and ProBlogger.net.
And I got to meet and learn from influential and inspiring women like author, speaker and blogger Sally Clarkson.
Of course, the best part of these conferences is always the fellowship I get to enjoy with other women bloggers. At Allume this year, I met so many awesome women, many of whom I am excited to stay connected with and develop genuine friendships. I didn’t take a lot of grip-and-grin photos with them, choosing instead to spend my time conversing and simply enjoying their company.
Overall, Allume was a great experience and I would highly recommend it to women bloggers who have a desire to integrate their faith into their scope of online influence.
I am so glad you had a good time. Miss you!
Miss you all too! See ya Thursday.
The first one I miss, and you’re there!! I’m so glad you got to go and I’m hoping to go next year!
Blessings,
Cyndi
I would have loved to catch up with you! Yes, please come next year!
Would you believe that it’s been one month, and I’m just now sorting through all of my Allume things? Even at this late date, I’d be remiss if I didn’t contact you to share how much I enjoyed getting to meet you at the conference.
I’ve thought of you several times, wondering if you’ve had your baby yet. Know that I’m praying for you!
Wow, Robin. I can totally relate. I met so many great people at Allume and still haven’t followed up with them. We welcomed our little man, Eli Matthew, on Nov. 16. He weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz. Everyone is doing great! So glad to hear from you. Thanks for praying …
