Baby sis is getting married!

Well. It’s official. My baby sister is getting hitched, which means I now get to enjoy even more of my four favorite “D” words: Decorating. Dinner. Dancing. Dessert (not necessarily in that order).

Here are a few photos that I took of the happy couple right after they got engaged.

I feel truly blessed because the man she’s marrying (our church’s youth pastor) is a really great guy. We all love him and his whole family, which is a good thing because if he was no good, our family would roll in 10 deep or more and have to take care of business (cuz, like I said, this is my baby sis and you don’t mess with my baby sis).

All joking aside, it has been amazing to watch God bring these two cutie pies together. I’m getting all verklempt and misty-eyed just thinking about it.

Ahem. Get it together Susan.

OK. So last Sunday, we hosted an awesomesauce bridal shower for baby sis at my house. Of course, the extraordinary women I have the privilege of calling family and friends made the day so special for everyone. (Plus they may or may not have saved my tail from having a mini meltdown as I was preparing for the event.)

We enjoyed a smorgasbord of finger foods, a lovely cake (no I did not make it) and some ice cream. And yes, that china in the background is from my $5 “Martha Barkley” collection.

My middle sis was in charge of games. I loved this one.

To play, you divide the party into teams and then give each team three rolls of toilet paper. Each team designates a “bride” and then creates a wedding dress out of the toilet paper. A timer is set for ten minutes and then the real bride-to-be picks her favorite.

After feeding our faces and playing games, it was time for opening gifts.

Baby sis got a lot of cool stuff.

The shower went off without a hitch (pun intended) and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to fellowship with so many wonderful people and to help give sis a day to remember.

When asked his secret of love, being married 54 years to the same person, Billy Graham once said, “Ruth and I are happily incompatible.”

Baby sis, I pray for you and Tony a lifetime of love and happiness. Congrats!
