Bathroom reveal

Hopefully, you’ll recall my recent post regarding my love/hate relationship with the color red. Well, I’ve since finished the five coats of Glidden’s Red Delicious paint that was required to fully cover the tiny half bath on our first floor.

I’ve also completed the molding around the mirror, added some artwork and, voila, completed this space. It only took three months! Aren’t you proud? Shhhh. I can hear you snickering.

So, you remember the before

Drum roll, please. Here are some after shots …

The artwork consists of framed photos taken by yours truly …

We replaced the “contractor’s special” sink with a solid surface version and added an oil-rubbed bronze faucet and cabinet hardware. I say “we” because the sink project required a lot of help from the hubs and my dad. Thanks guys! You are forever rescuing my DIY tail.

Check out that adorable soap dish and bar soap. That was an awesome score at an estate auction where I bought nearly a truckload of vintage (and newer) Avon products all for $1. No, that is not a typo. I’m telling you ONE DOLLAR, people. This “Barkley Collection” (that’s my name for all the finds I stole at this particular estate auction — the owner was named Martha Barkley) includes some caauuutte perfume and soap decanters as well as bath-oil filled honey jars, salt and pepper shakers, etc.

I used a can of oi-rubbed bronze (ORB) spray paint to update the light fixture and match it to all the other ORB hardware in the room.

I created this collage from stuff I had lying around the house. I wanted this room to have a nautical feel (remember, we live next to a lake) but without the predictable blues. The “Ten Commandments for Marriage” framed poster helps me focus on what I can do to honor my marriage and have a happy, healthy relationship.

I always love decorating with pieces given to me by loved ones. Every time I look at these objects, they remind me of the people who are so special to me. This Longaberger basket was a gift from the hubs’ grandmother. Luuurrrvve.

Well, that’s a wrap on this “not-so-tiny” project. Stay tuned for a tutorial on how I created that lovely, white molding you see around the bathroom mirror.

P.S. This post is also currently being featured on one of my most favorite inspirational/DIY blogs, Beneath My Heart. Go check it out! You’ll love Traci. She’s fabulous and so genuine.

The red looks fresh and rich. Small bathrooms are hard to paint…. huh? So many nooks and cranies and not a lot of room for latters. It looks great!.

Thanks for the feedback, Dee. You are absolutely right about the nooks and crannies. You would think, less space, less work, right? Not always true. I’m a messy painter as well, so that didn’t help matters with this project. Next up is my dining room reveal. Stay tuned. I’ve painted it a rich chocolate brown and I’m hoping to add a white chair rail and box molding around the room. It is going to look good enough to eat!

Thanks for the great feedback! I’m a baby blogger so I have a long way to go, but I’m getting there slowly. Here’s a sneak peak at what’s to come over the next few weeks … I’ll be showing you how I organize my cleaning supplies; I’ll be adding eye candy to my House Tour page; and I’ll be kicking off the autumn season with some great crafting and decorating ideas. Stay tuned!
