Bathroom update

If you have been following this blog for awhile, you may remember my guest bathroom renovation.

Well, there was one little detail that remained unfinished in the room. The mirror was naked and needed a frame built for it.

Since I am now nearly eight months pregnant and my “get up and go” has gotten up and went, I was happy to use a 40-percent-off coupon I received from Mirror Mate to order a pre-made frame.

When I got my frame in the mail, it looked like this:

The process of piecing everything together was pretty simple. I bought one of their least-expensive frames. It’s the “Pemaquid Slim Dark Bronze.”

Here is a closeup of it installed in the room.

I am very happy with how it turned out. I think it takes the room up a notch.

And just in case you forgot, here is what the room originally looked like:

The beadboard molding we installed is one of my favorite features. It breaks up the dark color on the walls.

I think I can now officially call this room done. That feels great!

  1. The framed out mirror looks great Susan!! I love the beadboard on the side wall as well! I’m thinking about doing that in our hallway bathroom! I’m interested in trying the beadboard wallpaper that Rhoda is always raving about! You can order it through her blog, just need to figure out how much I need first!!

Thanks, Tonya. My biggest problem is photographing rooms where there is no natural light to work with. It’s a challenge. I wasn’t very happy with the quality of these photos. I thought long and hard about using Rhoda’s beadboard wallpaper for this space, but in the end, I went with real beadboard sheets from 84 Lumber. They are pretty inexpensive. I’m sure it is much easier to work with the wallpaper, though. Let me know how it goes.

I know this is an older post, but I was wondering if you could tell me who Rhoda is and the name of her blog… I am interested in the bead board wallpaper. My guest bathroom is almost exactly like yours, only I painted mine in a light taupe color and I have white cabinets. I’m a sucker for the neutral colors. I really love how your bathroom turned out. Really nice job!

        Thank you so much!

Looks great Susan! Where did you get your rug and shower curtain? I’m redoing our guest bathroom and have been thinking of using these neutral colors. Also, going to do the one wall in beadboard. Thanks for sharing.

The rug came from a Super Target in Michigan. The shower curtain came from our local BonTon department store. Good luck with your beadboard molding project!

I love the new frame on the mirror. That’s on my to do list too…could definitely use a 40% off coupon to do it with mirror mates. lol What color are your walls? I didn’t see it on either post about your guest bath. Our master bath walls are the color in your before pics and I really like how the new color warms up your room. Thanks!

The paint color is Hot Cocoa 3056 – Clark & Kensington (from Ace Hardware). Thanks for reading! If you’re curious about any other paint colors in my home, they are all listed on the FAQs page on my website (look for the link near the top of the homepage).

Wow, I love the mirror framed! A friend of mine used Mirror Mate in her bathrooms a few years ago…amazing what a positive difference it makes. The entire bath is beautiful!
