Organizing DVDs and CDs

Greetings from the chilly mid-Adlantic region! I hope you are staying warm and toasty.

The new year stirs up in most of us a desire to define new goals (or maybe resurrect old ones, lol) and to improve our lives in some way. Organizing our spaces is usually at the top of the wish list.

I truly believe that an organized home (and life, for that matter) begins with baby steps. Today, I want to share with you a baby step I’ve taken in my quest to conquer the clutter bug in my home.

How many of you struggle with finding storage for your mounting piles of DVD and CD cases? I do. My DVD and CD collection was seriously starting to look like this:

ViaVia

I decided to fight back, so I purchased this case from Target.

I now have my entire collection of CDs organized in it by music style.

Organizing by music style (i.e. jazz, inspirational, classical, etc.) works better for me than organizing alphabetically because I don’t have to shift everything each time I add a CD. I simply keep about 10 sleeves open at the end of each category for new additions. Following so far?

I plan to purchase another one of these babies for our DVD collection. This case holds about 300 CDs/DVDs.

Thanks to this handy, dandy holder, I was able to get rid of an entire garbage bag full of CD cases. I no longer have to find a place to store them all in my home. What a great feeling!

By the way, for those of you who simply must. keep. those. album. covers, you can easily store them behind their respective CDs in the sleeve pockets.

I hope this helps inspire you on your quest to “live rich on less.”

Soul improvement
Just as we allow clutter to creep into our homes, we often allow clutter to creep into our hearts and minds and choke out the space where the Holy Spirit wants to dwell and work in us.

What “junk” do you need to remove from your life today?

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will. – Romans 12:2

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” – Luke 12:15

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. – Romans 8:5

For everything in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – comes not from the Father but from the world. – 1 John 2:16

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matt. 6:19-21
