Spring mantel
As I looked out the window this morning, I saw more of this:
And I thought, “I’ve got to do something to convince myself that spring is coming soon or the voices in my head will take over.” So I decided to put together my spring mantel decorations.
Yes, the tobacco basket is making an appearance yet again. What can I say? It has become more or less a permanent fixture in my home. I got it on eBay for $40 and I just love it to death, people. It’s big and gorgeous and all historical and it reminds me of the time my husband and I spent living in South Carolina.
Our house is in the woods near a lake, so I think the mini oar and rustic lanterns help with the lake home feeling I’m trying to create.
The rope knot door stop offers another nautical touch. I purchased it on clearance at Boscov’s. The plate and vase were bought at a local book/gift store.
I got the mini bushes (yes, they’re fake … I have a brown thumb, remember?) from T.J. Maxx. The ampersand is from Hobby Lobby (favorite store evah).
So there you have it, my spring mantel. I feel better already. Now if only the snow would melt …
Have you done any spring decorating yet? Does it feel like spring where you are?
I love the large basket. I would love to have that on my mantel with a boxwood wreath hanging in the middle.
Hi Susan,
I do love your design. Right now, my house is under renovation. We need to rebuild a mantel, too. Would you mind telling me your wall color? Thanks for sharing.
Jennifer
Thanks so much for the compliment. All the paint colors in my home can be found on my FAQs page here: http://livingrichonless.com/faqs/.
Hi Susan — popping over from Cyndi’s! Love, love, love your tobacco basket — it would be a fixture in my home, too. 🙂 Looking forward to reading your e-book!

Thanks, Heidi! I hope you like the book. Be sure to stop by and let me know your thoughts on it.
The sun was shining brightly today and melted most of our snow, and the air is beginning to feel different, so I think spring is finally on the way. Thank you for the copy of the ebook!
