Spring mantel

As I looked out the window this morning, I saw more of this:

Snowy-outsideAnd I thought, “I’ve got to do something to convince myself that spring is coming soon or the voices in my head will take over.” So I decided to put together my spring mantel decorations.

Living-room-spring-mantelYes, the tobacco basket is making an appearance yet again. What can I say? It has become more or less a permanent fixture in my home. I got it on eBay for $40 and I just love it to death, people. It’s big and gorgeous and all historical and it reminds me of the time my husband and I spent living in South Carolina.

Decorative-oarOur house is in the woods near a lake, so I think the mini oar and rustic lanterns help with the lake home feeling I’m trying to create.

Spring-mantelThe rope knot door stop offers another nautical touch. I purchased it on clearance at Boscov’s. The plate and vase were bought at a local book/gift store.

Ampersand-decorationI got the mini bushes (yes, they’re fake … I have a brown thumb, remember?) from T.J. Maxx. The ampersand is from Hobby Lobby (favorite store evah).

So there you have it, my spring mantel. I feel better already. Now if only the snow would melt …

Have you done any spring decorating yet? Does it feel like spring where you are?

I love the large basket. I would love to have that on my mantel with a boxwood wreath hanging in the middle.

    Hi Susan,

I do love your design. Right now, my house is under renovation. We need to rebuild a mantel, too. Would you mind telling me your wall color? Thanks for sharing.

  3. Hi Susan — popping over from Cyndi’s! Love, love, love your tobacco basket — it would be a fixture in my home, too. 🙂 Looking forward to reading your e-book!

  4. The sun was shining brightly today and melted most of our snow, and the air is beginning to feel different, so I think spring is finally on the way. Thank you for the copy of the ebook!
