Budget-friendly backyard patio reveal

I’m pleased to announce our budget-friendly backyard oasis is officially complete (almost)! I noticed while taking the reveal pictures that there are a few spots I need to touch up with paint and some soffit that needs replaced. But otherwise, I’m calling this project D.O.N.E.

Just to recap, here is the before picture detailing the plans:

First, I worked on refurbishing the ceiling fan/light. With some inexpensive primer and paint, the whole fixture was completely transformed!

Then came the big project – the concrete stair pour on Good Friday with Dad and the hubs.

While the concrete set up, I worked on DIYing my own knock-off version of a pricey Tuscan-style planter I was ogling at Lowe’s.

I filled the planters with inexpensive plants and shrubs from Walmart.

Finally, I gave the whole patio a good scrubbing and set up my thrifty, spray-painted DIY patio set. I also added a few accessories I had on hand.

Patio-pillows

The outdoor pillows are new from Walmart. All were under $10 apiece.

I added some grass seed in front of the new concrete stair, which I’m still waiting on to fill in. πŸ™‚

I sprayed Spectracide Weed & Grass Killer in the vicinity of the concrete to keep weeds at bay. I also sprayed Spectracide Weed & Grass Foaming Edger around the entire perimeter of the patio.

My goal is to be able to get close enough to the patio to trim the grass with the mower and to avoid needing to use a weed eater as well.

Below are a few more photos of our “new” budget-friendly backyard patio. We’ve affectionately labeled it the “party deck.”

I can’t wait to have friends and family over for a barbecue this Memorial Day!

This turned out so nice. What do you have on the underside of the patio cover? Is it metal or plastic????

s just thinking I really need to get on my outdoor patio that we dub “the hacienda”. It’s amazing the difference a little bit of old-fashioned scrubbing and deftly applied paint can make. It’s really a beautiful transformation. Thanks for sharing and the inspirational kick in the behind! πŸ™‚

Your patio looks great! It’s amazing what a little spray paint will do. Was wondering if your put any thought in spray painting your patio light? I have spray painted my before with great results.

Wow! great work πŸ™‚ it is a perfect post to jumpstart our progress in the back yard, it had been slow going since end of February with the manic Texas weather. just barely got the crepe myrtles cut back . I love your style as well as the tutorials. You are blessed (i.e. hardworking and loving family). Have a wonderful summer.
    Keep’em coming!

Everything looks great. The stairs really changed the look, too.
