Headed to Haven

In less than 24 hours, I’ll be boarding a plane bound for the Haven blogger’s conference in Atlanta. I am pumped because this particular conference is geared toward DIY gals like me.

I’ve been exercising my power drill trigger finger and I’m ready to learn all I can about tools, basic carpentry, painting, decorating and how to make my blog great.

I’m a bit nervous just like I was before Blissdom. But I am determined to exude confidence and make some new friends. I’m also hoping I’ll get the chance to reconnect with some of the wonderful ladies I met at Blissdom earlier this year.

From left to right: Cyndi, Traci, Myra and me.

On the left is Mandy and on the right is Tonya.

Until about two years ago, I thought I was the only weirdo who liked to rip out walls, re-do floors, re-purpose thrift store finds and basically make her husband nuts with all the constant changes around the house. But, low and behold, I discovered there is a sea of you crazy ladies out there just like me!

Conferences like Haven give us a chance to get together and compare notes. Now, no home is safe from our power tool-wielding, manicured hands (OK, mine aren’t manicured, but I’ve seen some of you ladies build a bench without breaking a polished nail and it is impressive).

My only wish is that I could pack all of my lovely readers into my suitcase and take you along with me because I know so many of you share my heart for DIY decorating and remodeling. I will be sure and share what I’ve learned with you, so you can get your DIY mojo on, too.

After the conference, my sisters and friend will be joining me in Atlanta for a girls’ weekend getaway. Holla!

If you would, please pray that we all have safe travels and a relaxing vacay.

Have you ever gone to a conference by yourself? Got any tips for me?

Hey Susan! It was great to meet you at Haven…even if we didn’t win anything from the Annie Sloan prize wheel. (well I didn’t…you could have ;p) Hope you’re getting some rest after all the great tips & info from Haven! Love your blog! <3 Heidi Rew from Parties for Pennies

I’m really sad that I didn’t get to go to Haven this year! I can not wait to hear all about it !! Are you going to Blissdom next year?

I would really like to go to Blissdom 2013. I’m hearing a lot of folks say they may not, so that’s a bummer. I’m still on the fence. What about you? BTW, Haven had some great info about stacking ads. Tonya and I both agreed you would have really enjoyed attending that session. I’m sure she’ll give you the skinny on it.
