Word of the year
“One little word can make a big impact on your life. Join the journey.” That’s what Layla Palmer is saying over at The Lettered Cottage. She is hosting a link party for those who want to identify one word or phrase that will inspire and encourage them in 2012. What a fantastic idea, no? I thought so, so I decided to “join the journey” myself.
My word of the year for 2012? AVAILABLE.
Ok. I can hear you snickering. Let me clarify. No, I am NOT looking for a date; I am a very happily married woman.
I chose the word AVAILABLE because I want 2012 to be the year that I reach out to others, offering them my undivided time and attention.
I want 2012 to be the year that I focus on people first before tasks and accomplishments.
Instead of worrying about all the things I have yet to do, I want to embrace and be grateful for each moment I have with the ones I love.
I want 2012 to be the year that I look for more opportunities to serve and minister to others.
I want 2012 to be the year that I surrender myself totally to God to be used however He sees fit.
In a word? I want to make myself AVAILABLE in 2012.
And whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. – Mark 10:44-45
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others … – Philippians 2:1-11
Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered. – Proverbs 11:25
Have you picked out a word of the year for 2012? Please share!
Perseverance, would be my word, something that only the Lord can give me, when I commit to something I need to stay committed.
We could all use a good dose of that! Thanks for sharing, Beth.
I remember reading something somewhere about a “word of the year”….. and at the time thought it was a great idea, but I couldn’t think of the right “word” for MY life. After awhile, I just forgot about it………Until today……. I saw the word “RESILIENCE”… and I just knew that it was my word.
Karen, Thanks for sharing. I really needed to hear your word of the year today. I was discouraged and doors seemed to be closing on every idea I had. “Resilience” is just what I need right now. Thanks for the encouragement.
