Bedroom 2 before and after at the flip house
Hello friends! I’m back with another before and after from the flip house. We’re in the process of finishing the last 10 percent of this home, and I’m hoping it will be done soon. Progress has slowed significantly since I’ve been away for job-related training over the past several weeks.
Today I wanted to show you the before and after of the second downstairs bedroom.
Here’s a journey down memory lane with the before:
The renovation in this space included plaster patching and wall painting, ceiling and trim painting, a closet build, and installation of new carpeting. All the windows in the entire house were already replaced earlier this year, adding to the room’s updates.
Here’s what the space looks like now:
Yes, it is quite a transformation. The wall color I chose is a Sherwin Williams color called Windstorm. I had it mixed up in my favorite Valspar Signature eggshell paint, which is less expensive but provides a really professional finish.
For the window and baseboard trim, I used my favorite Zinsser® Cover Stain® Oil Base primer, then topped that off with a coat of off-white, semi-gloss trim paint.
I staged the space mostly with stuff I had around my own house or in the basement. The one new piece I added to the room was this adorable print by Craft Street Design:
I’m a bit sad to let this artwork go with the house. I want to order another print from here to go in my office at home. 🙂
So what do you think of Bedroom 2 at the flip house?
Special thanks to Craft Street Design for providing the print used in this bedroom transformation.
Beautiful! The colors are soothing and the white trim really sets off the beautiful wood door.
Thanks so much, Kim. 🙂
Very nice! Since you love the “Enjoy every moment” photo, why not do one on your own. Take a photo or copy it, or simply hand write it yourself the way they did and frame it in a cool frame from Hobby Lobby or a yard sale purchase. I would simply just “draw” it myself in that writing style. You can do this! It is a creative way to see the words from side to side.
Great idea, Donna. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
What a beautiful space. I love the color! The windows made such a difference toi!
Thanks so much, Nancy. And thanks again for the cookies. 🙂
You’re welcome! Encouragement comes in many forms.????
I have enjoyed following your flip! This room turned out so pretty! I am wondering if you had to refinish the ceiling? It looked to be gridded panels in the before photo but I could not tell if they remained in the after? From first had experience I know how tired you must be! I look forward to seeing the rest of your hard work! Great Job!
I kept the tiles but painted them a bright white. I love this white Zinsser ceiling paint: http://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/zinsser/specialty-coatings/ceiling-paint. It goes on pink, then dries white, so you know exactly what you’ve already done. The ceilings now look brand new.
It’s beautiful. The colors are so relaxing–now I want to paint our bedroom this color! What color or brand is the carpet in that bedroom? It coordinates so well with that paint color. Thanks for sharing!
I love what you did. It feels very comfy and cozy.
Thanks!
I’m still curious if you can give some information on the color and brand of flooring in Bedroom 2?
Thanks!
Oh wow, Erin. I had a carpet installer put that in and I’m checking my receipt but it doesn’t list the color. It is a cross between a light gray and a light brown – a true neutral. I ordered an 8-lb. padding to upgrade the flooring and it made all the difference. I didn’t spend a lot on the carpet itself; it’s a mid-grade. But I beefed the padding to improve the quality and it looks amazing. I checked online to find a similar color to compare it to and I would say it looks like the “Element” color you see in this link: http://thumbs.modthesims2.com/img/3/0/0/3/8/9/8/MTS_iCad-1394245-plushie_swatch.jpg.

So glad you stopped by, Susan! I’m posting the kitchen pics today, and then later this week, I’ll be doing a complete recap of the house with all the before and after pics. So stay tuned. 🙂
