Cheap nursery art

Happy Wednesday! I’m pleased to report I have finally made some real progress on our son’s nursery. And, yes, if you’re keeping track, our little man is nearly two months old and I am still working on his room. What can I say? Total slacker. Can I get an amen from the rest of you who are with me in the “not-enough-energy-or-hours-in-the-day-to-get-stuff-done” club?

I did manage to get one of the art projects for the room finished and photographed, so I’ll share that with you today.

I picked up this framed print at my local thrift store for $6.99.

I took out the print and painted the cardboard backing in the same color as the nursery wall.

Tip: Make sure you paint over the cardboard and not the actual print, to prevent bubbling (ask me how I know :)).

Then I primed and painted the frame white.

Finally, I put the cardboard backing in the repainted frame, then added some vinyl lettering that I printed out from my Silhouette electronic cutting tool.

What do you think?

I love the Bible verse and the way you have presented. Your baby is so fortunate to have a Christ follower for his mother.

    Which Silhouette do you have?

I have the Silhouette SD. It is a model that came out a few years ago. The new version, the Cameo, is wider, so it’s probably better. I’ve also heard good things about the Cricut machines.

Love it! Can I ask what is the color of the paint you used on the walls?

Perfect Scripture for your little guy to have hanging over his bed. My youngest son had a Scripture over his crib, finger painted by his 2 yr. old sister and me on an old scrap of paper. Not nearly as lovely as yours but priceless in its own way. After having it read to him every night, he could recite it before he outgrew his crib. Your son will soon learn his verse too! Enjoy your sweet family and don’t put too much pressure on yourself. 🙂
