Cheap-o spring porch decor

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a blessed Easter holiday. Today I want to show you my extremely simple and crazy cheap spring porch decor.

This time of year, work is ridiculously busy and I don’t have much time to get my decorating mojo on (boo). However, having my porch adorned with snowmen in April is equally ridiculous, so I bit the bullet recently and changed out the “cold” with the new.

I started by adding these fun, floral outdoor throw pillows. They were $4.99 apiece at my  favorite discount store, Gabriel Brothers. If you live near a Gabes, run, don’t walk to pick up these pillows. I couldn’t have sewed them myself for that price! Don’t they look great on my Adirondack chairs? For a tutorial on how I refinished these chairs, click here.

I bought four pillows total and added the other two to my corner rocking chair.

This chair will be getting re-finished this summer. She’s starting to fade pretty badly.

For my door art, I brought out an old basket I had in the basement and filled it with a few sprigs of spring flowers (which I bought for $3 total at an auction).

To make the little chalkboard “Welcome Spring” sign, I bought a 99-cent frame at Walmart, stuck some leftover chalkboard vinyl (which I already had on hand) over the glass and fit it back in the frame. I used twine to attach the frame to the basket.

On a side note, I am so over this red door. We have a green house and the neighbor kids have been asking if Mr. and Mrs. Claus live here. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Christmas, but not all year long! I’d love to replace the door with a solid wood one stained to match my Adirondack chairs. I’d also love to maybe add a copper kick plate and similarly finished hardware. Wouldn’t that look great? I’m open to suggestions.

I am so blessed to have an enormous, wraparound, country porch. I love to sit in one of my chairs, read my Bible, pray and just ponder life from this spot. It’s magical. Oh, I am also blessed to have Howie, the fearless wonder dog, as my companion. 🙂

Here’s a view of our house from the front yard.

Before I go, I have to share this. I planted these three plants last year around our lamppost and they survived!

They are growing strong, which I consider to be a spring miracle, since have a bit of a brown thumb.

I hope the gardens in both your yard and your heart will grow strong this spring.

1 Cor. 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Thanks for the feedback, Carly. We had a beautiful day yesterday and I was able to sit on my Adirondack chair and read a magazine for awhile. It was bliss!

Love your house Susan! and I love a red door. I’m going to try to copy you front door decor. I think I have most of that somewhere in my attic.
Hope you had a wonderful Easter!

Thanks, Cyndi. I debated even blogging about the door decor because I loathe that red door so much. I’m glad I went for it and it inspired somebody!
