Thrifty fall twig wreath

Well hello there! Has any of my fall mojo rubbed off on you yet? If not, I’m here again today to send some more your way with a super cheap (and easy) fall wreath idea.

Pssst. If you didn’t know this yet, decorating with black birds — or with any type of bird for that matter — is super cool and all the rage right now! (Aren’t you so glad I impart my decorating wisdom to you regularly?)

So to make this super cheap and easy wreath project, you start with a plain old grapevine wreath.

You can find these in pretty much any craft or big box store (like Walmart) for a few bucks. I went shopping in my basement for mine.

Then you gather up some twigs.

I went shopping in my backyard for these, but if you don’t have trees in your backyard, you could hit up a local park or your neighbor’s house. (P.S. I will deny I told you this if you are arrested for trespassing or damaging vegetation.) 😉

Then you trim the twigs and jam them into the grapevine wreath like so:

Once you are finished cutting and fitting the twigs, your wreath should look something like this:

OK. Now take some spray primer and coat the whole thing. Follow up with a coat of your favorite spray paint (I used heirloom white ‘cuz that’s what I had lying around) and this is what you get:

After it dries, add some sprigs of fall berries and clip on your trendy black bird and you’re done.

I like this wreath because it’s a little different than the typical leaf and pumpkin wreaths you see EVERYWHERE! I heart unique and unexpected decorations mixed in with the traditional.

There you have it: a thrifty fall twig wreath. I didn’t spend a dime on this particular project because I had all the materials lying around, but if you had to purchase everything except the twigs, I’m confident you could keep the cost under $10 (if you’re a sneaky, thrifty chick like me).

Before I say sayonara for today, let me remind you not to remain focused on all the pretty material things that we can bring into our homes and lives, but rather on renewing your mind with God’s Word and power, for this is the only thing that has ever brought true joy and peace into my life.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 – 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
