My husband is the best daddy EVER to our kids! He works so hard all day, and never wants to come home and not spend time with them.

    • DeAnne Batchelor says:

My husband’s favorite piece of advice “right now” (changes frequently) lol: The quality of your yesses is directly related to the quantity of your nos. He is so wise! He is also a great husband and daddy.

Just wanna give a shout-out to my husband and my dad – both awesome people!

  4. Meg says:

My dad ( or should I say ours) always made me feel so special watching him see all of his daughters singing praise songs on stage together. He would always tell me he has the three most, prettiest girls in the world and it’s the best blessing he could have ever had to know his girls love the Lord and are serving him. I think about how much I would want that as a parent and I’m so proud to be his daughter (just like you are sis!) He’s taught us SO much, I can’t imagine life without him. As for a special saying that “stuck” in my brain it would have to be “That’ll learn ya dearn ya!”

  5. Michelle snare says:

Well….my is awesome. He put in exceptionally long hard days and nights working on our farm to provide for us. He has been a huge support in my life! I would be lost without him.

  6. Sandy A says:

My husband is just the most amazing father and grandfather–but since my father has passed I will remember his words to us four daughters. He always told us how wonderful we were and to never, ever, let anyone make us feel less than what we are–never. If they tried to do that get them out of your life–they didn’t deserve us. A good message for everyone…

  7. Sean Cannon says:

My dad always said, “Proper planning prevents poor performance.” This was usually always in reference to preparing to go camping or hunting, but the advice has proven true for MANY areas of my life. Super thankful for his wisdom!

  8. Brittney says:

Growing up my dad was my #1 fan. He always believed in me and taught me to work hard. He taught me that being a girl was no excuse not to get my hands a little dirty and most importantly has given me a Godly heritage. I am all grown up now, and married I will always cherish the memories we’ve made. Our favorite activities we still share are gardening and DYI projects. The most recent project we’ve done is a pumpkin patch. Although I am no longer ‘daddy’s little girl’ we can still share our passion for the outdoors and DYI projects.

  9. Carol says:

Before going out my Dad would say, “here is a quarter for a phone call, just in case you need to call home any time”.

    • Susan says:

I love that. Many youngsters nowadays wouldn’t even understand why you would need a quarter to make a phone call, lol. 😉

  10. Matt says:

My dad would always add a rhyme to the end of a score in a game. One-Zero in case you want to know; Two-One we are just having some fun; Three-Two guess who is beating you, etc. It must have stuck with me because now I add a rhyme when I play my kids in sports.

  11. Christina Ortiz says:

My Dad has always been there for me. I can always depend on him telling me how it really is-whether I appreciate it or not. Now that I’m older I realize he actually knew what he was talking about..lol. He has a great perspective on things too…a favorite line of his is, “it’s better than a sharp stick.” So true..most things ARE better than a sharp stick! Lol

  12. Susu says:

A favorite memory of mine with me and my dad was our love for John Wayne and all things “cowboy”. I am one of 8 children but on Saturday evenings I had my special place in my dad’s lap and we would watch Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke! Even with a house full of children, I had my special time and as I look back that was such a sweet gift! I miss my dad, but I’m married to a wonderful man who has been the same sweet presence in our children’s lives!

  13. Emily Wilson says:

My dad is one of the most patient and caring people I know and never asks for anything for himself. I’m so grateful.

  14. Sami says:

My dad is pretty rad. He is a fantastic man of faith and though has faced some pretty yucky things in life, always kept the faith. Last year, on Father’s day, something pretty amazing happened. My dad is not the sentimental kind…he is the “life is rough, get a helmet” type. (That is really what he would say to us.) Well, randomly, last Father’s Day he walked into our family’s annual picnic with card in hand for the sons-in-law. Being the nosy daughters we are, each of us read the folded letter that were inside – addressed to our spouses. What we read was shocking. Such a heartfelt, sentimental, still kick you in your pants honesty filled letter. It was pretty much amazing. I have posted the link to the blog post I wrote about it. He is pretty awesome. To this day, his letter hangs on our mirror and I catch my hubby re-reading it from time to time.

  15. Jill T says:

My dad was kind of a….. kid. He was a runabout, not the greatest dad one would want. He would breeze in and then be gone just as fast. He just couldn’t be tied down much.
But we sat out on the lawn one evening and he just let me know how much he loved me and my daughter. He wasn’t that kind of guy. In time, we found out that he was sick and he eventually died of esophageal cancer. I think he knew then what the rest of us didn’t. That afternoon sticks in my mind as being an important time for both of us.
It was the closest thing to a “moment” we ever had.
    I am thankful for it.

  16. Kathy says:

My husband gets up early to get the kids ready for school and the school bus. He says he does it so he can have the first kiss of the day!

  17. Albion says:

I didn’t grow up with my father and only imagined what it would be like to have one. My husband and I have four daughters now and watching his love for our girls heals my own residual father issues. We were recently all snuggled up on the couch watching a movie and chatting and he looked around and said “This is perfect.” He’s always saying small things that are actually huge.

  18. Tammy Gilleland says:

I want to hog the gift card for myself. Just being honest here! I have lost 50 lbs and in much need of some new clothes.

My father is my hero, dad and friend. Through his actions, we saw growing up and still today how a Christian man loves God, his wife and his family. My brother and I all wanted a marriage like my parents. They are each other’s best friends. A special man in my life!

    • Susan says:

I don’t blame you for wanting the card for yourself, Tammy. 😉 And a huge congrats for such an amazing weight loss accomplishment!

  19. Patricia says:

I am so blessed to still have my dad who will be 86 in September. I have always been “Daddy’s girl” so everything he said was important to me. The two funniest would be “talk fast” when we all had stories to tell at the dinner table and “it’s just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as it is a poor man”. I think I talk fast to this day because of that advice and as for the rich man, the story gets funnier. When I met my husband, he carried a $50 bill in his wallet. This was 1973 and I thought he was rich! I loved telling people that story until he added his comment: “I never had that $50 bill after we started dating.” Thanks for the chance to win.

  20. Tammye says:

My Dad loves to tell this story and after hearing it all my life and having children of my own, I now realize just how MUCH those words meant to him. When I was about 5 years old, he and I were holding hands walking around the yard. I looked up at him and said, “I am so glad I picked you for a Daddy” (and, it was one of the best choices I made haha). I’ve been blessed beyond words!

  21. Mary Christianson says:

When I was growing up $ was very tight. My father would say “If you can’t eat it or wear it don’t buy it”. That was the truth. We could not afford other “things”. He would be very happy with all the repurposing, recycling and sharing I am doing today.

  22. Bo Doeg says:

My Dad always tells me, its not the short drive that counts it the long haul. Do everything with quality and pride, whether its working in the fields or raising my babies. Dad I love you. The lessons you instill are the cornerstones of Life.

  23. Dawn Rene Melvin says:

My father chose not to “participate” with us when we were very young. My grandmother and mother held everything together. I saw my mother go to work every day, and rarely call in sick. She has an incredible amount of integrity. She is still working today at 80 at a grocery store just to stay busy, keep her moving, and the extra income helps her. I’m not saying any of this for sympathy, but that sometimes a mother is both parents. And I will celebrate her on both Mother’s and Father’s Day.

  24. Rita says:

I lost my dad over 15 years ago, and didn’t find out until his funeral exactly how much he lived by his words: “If you are giving (money, food, clothing, whatever is needed) to get the credit, you are giving for the wrong reason”. My dad donated to many, many people and places that no one, including our immediate family, ever knew about…..at his funeral people were standing up talking about how he gave them $20 to buy food for their kids, donated to our local children’s home items for the Christmas stockings, etc. Even my mom had no idea. My favorite was a man stood and talked about how my dad had caught him shoplifting bread and peanut butter (my dad managed a grocery store). He asked why bread and peanut butter (expecting a kid to take candy or pop) and he was told it was to feed his brothers and sisters…they had no food. Rather than call the police, my dad told him to never steal again….if he needed food, to come see him and he would find something for him to do to earn the money. Even after all these years, I still shed a tear when I think of the stories I heard about the way my dad lived his life and how he treated others. As we say now: “he walked the talk”. I think of my dad every day, and miss him terribly……..

“Life goes by in a wink.”

  26. Kirsten says:

I would love to win this giveaway for my dad! He was a huge DIY’er and taught me to craft, sew, garden, paint, wallpaper, tile, and build furniture. His most often used quote and/or piece of advice has always been “Assumption is the mother of all mistakes.”

  27. Angie W says:

I was the good kid so this saying was always to my younger sister who caused all the problems…’your a$$ is grass and I’m the lawn mower!’. Despite being a good christian man she sometimes pushed him to his liimits!!

  28. Melinda J says:

My dad always reminds to “not stop and play with any dead snakes” or to “take any wooden nickles” when I’m traveling.

  29. Alina says:

I remember every time I had a nightmare as a little girl, my dad would come in and say, “I killed the monsters. They will no longer scare you cause that’s what dad’s do!”
It’s not funny or inspirational but it meant a lot to me and put me at ease and allowed me to sleep.

  30. Sean C says:

‘Til this day, my father always tells me that I’m his treasure but most definitely the cause of his sleeplessness. He said he found that in some book he read once, and that I will never cease to hear it.

  31. Jennifer says:

My daddy was known for his sense of humor. My favorite memory was his singing in the car whenever we took road trips. When he was sleepy, he would sing at the top of his lungs songs he learned while in the army. This is the part of the song I remember the most.. ” went downstairs to breakfast, The bread was hard and stale, The coffee like tobacco juice in the good old county jail., The knife and fork were spooning like fresh connected cheese. The weenies took a flip flop and landed in the peas!” Silly, but makes me smile still today 🙂

  32. DJ says:

I am so blessed to have a wonderful father-in-law. My Father-in-law will do anything to help us including driving five hours one way to work on our leaky roof and then driving five hours back home to go to work the next day. The best part is that he produced my husband who is also awesome!

  33. Kathleen Lee says:

My father-in-law always says “everything is just a matter of time”. Its been true in all of my biggest struggles…including DH’s deployments. I may not be dealing well now, but it helps to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

    • Susan says:

Kathleen, I can totally understand your struggle. My husband and I were both active duty and separated by TDYs on several occasions. Hang in there and thanks for sharing.

  34. Meghan Williams says:

My dad was a wonderful man. I miss him more every day. After 14 months without him, I have come to the conclusion that the world was a better place when he was here. As we come up on summer and I’m about to teach my kids how to swim and take them in the ocean, I remember being out in the ocean with my dad. We vacationed in Myrtle Beach every year when I was a child. This year I will be taking my kids to the same resort where we used to stay. I will teach them to swim in the same pool that I swam in, and I will go out in the ocean and hold their raft steady the same way that my dad held it for me. I remember waves hitting him in the face and he didn’t care as long as I was stable and secure while I was out there. I really wish that he could be the one out there with my children.

  35. Leslie says:

I have great memories from my teenage years of my Dad and I working on my car…it always had problems but looking back I learned a lot and got to spend time with him.

  36. Becky L. says:

My Dad would always tell me to ‘do the job right the first time’. Great advice I still follow and am teaching my children.

  37. Leah says:

My Dad always helps when a remodeling or fix it job occurs at our house. He is a finish carpenter and my parents home is beautifully and solidly maintained, so when he says, “Good enough for my house!” You know he’s done, and it is good! Thanks Dad!

  38. The DIY Girl says:

My dad didn’t allow us to say “I can’t”. He’d sigh, get really quiet, and then respond “No, you’ve decided you don’t want to do it. You can do anything you want to.” Single greatest gift he gave me — among many others. Happy Father’s Day Daddy!

  39. Lori says:

Love Duluth Trading Co because they are great at making hammer handles never show up! 😉 The darn t-shirts from other places are always too short.

  40. Stephanie says:

My grandpa is the best father I ever had. I love him so very much and even though he deals with chronic life diseases, his spirit is always positive. So much love for him!

  41. Christina says:

My dad was my hero. He survived a german concentration camp imprisonment. He always used to say. “No matter what job you have in life, do it to the vest of your ability. Do it well”

  42. Donna Gibson says:

My father was a man of faith! He was a hard-working man who spent countless hours working on a dairy farm to support my mother and us eight children. He put 3 through college, but also spent time laying in the grass in the yard looking at the clouds while we spent a lazy Sunday afternoon just enjoying nature, letting my young turkey stand on his shoe, let me raise 3 chickens, a calf to a cow, and just enjoy farm life. He disciplined when it was needed, even when I was young when I broke the eggs from the goose nest that were in the process of hatching! Together, we planted dahlias and gladiolas, his favorites and mine, and we worked side by side in the garden. He had a strong work ethic, but he also took us faithful to church. He was a man who didn’t express his love and affection very often, but we knew he cared for us all! He welcomed my husband into the family with open arms, and then died suddenly when I was 29, leaving behind just memories for us! However, Father’s Day isn’t just about my earthly Father, but it is about my Heavenly Father. He is one whom I can call Abba Father! He truly is why I can celebrate a Father’s Day because he will never leave me, nor forsake me, and he loves me unconditionally! Just like the song says, “I just want to know you more!” and someday, we will all be together in Heaven knowing more of each other together!

  43. Kristen says:

“Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It’s not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it’s a day you’ve had everything to do and you’ve done it.”
    ― Margaret Thatcher

Okay…so that’s not a quote from my dad, but it’s a favorite of mine and totally applies to him! Some of my favorite childhood memories are simple trips to the hardware store, or working around the property. He’s always got a project working!

  44. Pam says:

I grew up in a rural area and the high school was 6 miles away. We would often carpool with our friends, switching off who drove. Whenever we were on our way home, Dad would tell us to call before we came, knowing where our friends lived and knowing how long it should take us to get home. His signature saying as we walked out the door with the car keys was “Call before you come home,” and when we called he’d say “If you’re not home by ___ I’m calling the Highway Patrol.” He was a tender hearted man with a gruff exterior, and he loved his girls.

  45. Dicksi says:

I’ve been blessed with a wonderful father, grandfathers, husband (he’s a great father) & father-in-law. All have given inspiration, wisdom, & advice throughout my life. But the best advice was “always make every person you meet feel like they’re the most special person in the world. You can’t help but feel special yourself.” (Makes you a happier person everyday!) 🙂

  46. Laura J says:

Oh…the one I remember so well and we still laugh at all the time is what my dad told us kids whenever we complained about walking to school! He always said how he had to walk 2 miles to school and home again each day…uphill! We still laugh how both ways could be uphill…and always laugh so hard! Such beautiful memories!

  47. Jennai says:

Whenever we argued (and even sometimes when we weren’t arguing) he would say: “I smile because you’re my daughter. I laugh because there’s nothing you can do about it!”

  48. Jeannie Garcia-Buechele says:

I can’t say enough good things about my husband, but one thing that always makes me laugh is what he tells my son every Father’s Day,
“Well Chris, when I was a kid, I would say to my father: ‘Daddy, will you take me to the zoo?’ He would answer, ‘If the zoo wants you, let them come and get you.
Never understood why he tells him that every year..but it makes us laugh so hard.
I love you Jim Buechele <3

  49. barbara macaskill says:

When I was 13 I was diagnosed with cancer and lost my hair. My Dad who is almost bald told me that God only made a few perfect heads, on the rest he put hair. It made me feel a little better and Dad and I got a lot closer during this time!

    • Susan says:

I love this! Thanks for the inspirational story, Barbara.

      • barbara macaskill says:

Gotta love someone with a perfect head even more! LOL

        • barbara macaskill says:

All 4 times that I have had cancer and lost my hair he reminded me of the perfect head theory! I passed it on when my neighbor’s 7 year old son had cancer and lost his hair. Unfortunately he lost his battle.

  50. girlfromwva says:

My Dad always jokes around with us & makes up songs to the kids, grand-kids & great-grand-kids. He will say things like “Do you Love Me?”; you have to answer, “Yes, I do”. Or he will say “I can’t hear you” or “talk to the room” because he can’t hear as well anymore. One of the funniest was teaching my oldest son the “nerd laugh” like Steve Urkel. He would do it when we would be somewhere you were supposed to be quiet. The funniest to me & my Dad is when the kids will be humming some song he made up when they are in their own room.

  51. Kerry Jeske says:

My fiancĂ© loves to drive our youngest kids crazy. He’ll say stuff like, “Ya gotta get crazy!!” or sometimes he’ll act like the kids and I will scold him and tell him to act his age and he’ll say, “I am, I’m just big for my age”. He is so funny and there is never a dull moment with him around lol.

  52. Carolyn R. says:

We will celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary this September. After our first few years of marriage, my husband wasn’t sure he would make a good father. I told him he would be a great Dad. . . and I was right. As usual. 🙂 Both our son and daughter are getting married in the next year and I can only hope they will have as long and successful a marriage as their Mom and Dad have had!

  53. Jeanette Medlin says:

My husband is a great man! I grew up with a lot of yelling and a person who didn’t really listen. When I met James in 2007 everything changed. He listens and doesn’t yell. He’s my best friend and he really knows how to make my life complete! I love him so much!

  54. Sarah says:

My husband will be a new dad this summer and i have no doubt that he will make an amazing father.During this whole pregnancy he has been there for me through the scary times and joyous times, always holding my hand through it all.Last week i went into preterm labor,i had to stay in the hospital for 2 days, but i wasn’t alone.my husband stayed with me.He took two days off from work and didn’t complain about it.He made sure the dogs were taken care,he brought comfortable clothes that could wear when we left, he made sure i was taken care during our stay. He has made things a lot easier for me,I don’t know if I could’ve done it without him. I know he will love our son the same way. He will be an amazing father just like he is an amazing husband.

  55. Tabathia B says:

My husband was really great when I delivered our youngest daughter, I had so many problems, had to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks a few days in ICU and I was terrified of falling asleep because I didn’t think I would wake up and he stayed there the entire time to help put my mind at ease because the nurse was going to give me something to sleep because my blood pressure kept dropping and I had edema in my legs.

  56. Em Ma says:

My dad’s favorite saying was “It hurts to be dumb”. What he meant by this is that if I leave my toys out and then trip over them, I wouldn’t be hurting if I wasn’t so dumb as to not put my toys away.

My favorite story or memory of my dad is that when I was young my mother would put two french braids in my hair every morning before school. However, when I was about 7 or 8 she started to travel for work several days a week. Being a silly little girl, my concern was “who’s going to braid my hair for school?” My dad took me to the beauty salon and paid for the stylist to teach him how to braid my hair. That’s a dad who loves his daughter! Over the next several years, my dad learned to paint fingers and toes with nail polish, pick out “outfits” for his daughters, and play with Barbies. He never had any sons, but he completely embraced having daughters.

  57. Kami says:

Looks like I’m squeaking in under the wire here and appreciate the chance to win. I’ve been wanting to order from DTC! Love the commercials! But I would gladly give this gift to my amazing hubby (of 32 years as of this Wed 6/11)!!! He works so hard even after all of these years for me and our here kids and three grand babies! He’s a hardworking railroader and would love this!!! Thank you! 🙂

  58. Debra Lee says:

Don’t go out in the rain without your golashes on. Basically to be prepared ahead of time!
